Spain's football organization, Futebol Club Barcelona, unveiled its entry into eSports this past Wednesday. The disclosure of the information was through the organization itself, which reported that it will enter the 2022 season of electronic sports under the name of "Barça eSports".

According to the organization's revelation, Barça eSports may be present at the Liga de Videojuegos Professional in Spain. That said, Barcelona will be part of one of the biggest League of Legends leagues in Europe, the Superliga. In the championship, Barça eSports will find teams such as the G2 Arctic, MAD Lions Madrid, Movistar Riders, UCAM Esports Club and Vodafone Giants.

In the document revealed by Barcelona, the organization opted to enter the competitive scenario of League of Legends to "strengthen the club's relations with eSports, where it has been investing for approximately two years". Barcelona also revealed that they won't just stay in the League of Legends, and that they intend to join the modalities of eFootball, Rocket League and Hearthstone.
Despite this, Barcelona did not reveal any names to list their teams. Therefore, the lineup for the next season of the League of Legends Superliga is not yet in the league database.
The Superliga championship is being planned for the 2022 season, but it still has to present some news for the next edition. For example, the organization of Barça eSports will take the place of the S2V Esports vacancy, but there are still two vacancies open for the Superliga. In this case, Astralis SB, which took part in the competition, ended up selling its place to an organization that has not yet been revealed, but it is known that it belongs to the player Gerard Piqué, who acts as a defender at the Barcelona football club.
Other than that, Team Queso also revealed that it signed a partnership with Fnatic, and left its vacancy open. Meanwhile, the organization of Bisons ECLUB ended up buying a spot on the BCN Squad team to be part of the Superliga teams.
It is worth mentioning that the Superliga has a system similar to the Brazilian League of Legends Championship. Thus, ten teams make up the Superliga and need to go through a series of confrontations carried out in Bo1. Afterwards, only the two teams at the top of the table can advance straight to the semi-finals. From third to sixth place, they need to pass through the quarterfinals of the competition.
Although the Superliga is part of Europe, the championship is not linked to the main tournament in the region, which in this case is the LEC. Therefore, clubs from the Superliga and other regional tournaments need to compete in the EU Masters. As a result, only three teams from Spain can qualify for the EU Masters. However, the classification system for participating in the EU Masters is different, as only the top two and the best place in the Regular Phase can participate in the competition.
For example, the Vodafone Giants organization, which had been the second split champion of the 2021 Superliga, won its place in the EU Masters Group Phase. As a result, UCAM Esports, which took runner-up at Superliga 2021, also managed to qualify for the EU Masters. Finally, Movistar Riders, which had the best position during the Regular Phase, obtained its right to participate in the Entry Phase of the EU Masters.
In terms of curiosity, the organization Movistar Riders had a very important contact with the Brazilians from RED Canids, current champion of the Brazilian League of Legends Championship. In this case, Movistar Riders lent its Gaming Office for Brazilians to do their training to compete in the 2021 League of Legends Worlds.
